Education and Outreach is a vital part of IAH’s mission to further the understanding, wise use and protection of groundwater resources throughout the world. In 2025 we supported our commissions, networks and national chapters in running webinars by hosting the events online for them. In celebration of World Water Day and the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, we held a webinar titled “Glaciers and Groundwater Interactions: Challenges in a Changing Climate”. Scientists from IAH presented an overview on the issues surrounding research into this topic, as well as demonstrating the importance of groundwater in storing glacial meltwater, by presenting two case studies. Panellists were invited to discuss future solutions and research needed on this crucial topic. Watch the webinar on our YouTube channel.
Our mentoring scheme continued this year, an important member benefit that enables collaboration and connection between members at different stages in their careers across the globe. The Secretariat matches up members based on their academic backgrounds and intended/past career paths. Find out more about the scheme at Mentoring – IAH – The International Association of Hydrogeologists.
We also helped fund the participation of several members from lower income backgrounds at our international congress in Melbourne, who would not otherwise have been able to attend and present their papers.
