We strengthened our global partnerships through participation in major international events and collaborative initiatives. Vice President Julian Conrad delivered a keynote address at the ‘First IGM International Groundwater Conference’ (IIGC 2025) in Malaysia. Collaboration with IGRAC continued through the GeoStories: Discover Groundwater initiative, highlighting groundwater use worldwide.
We began drafting a Memorandum of Understanding with The Groundwater Project (GW‑P), to support joint educational activities. We also participated in the Global Water Partnership’s annual Network Meeting and contributed to global dialogue at World Water Week in Stockholm, hosted by SIWI.
IAH supported the 16th European Geothermal PhD Days (EGPD 2025) through sponsorship and publicity and promoted the Society for Exploration Geophysics’ online workshop on uncertainty in groundwater science. We also contributed to the International Commission on Geoheritage’s third evaluation of IUGS Geological Heritage Sites – see IUGS-THIRD-100-EVALUATION-PROCESS.pdf
A major highlight was IAH’s involvement in ISMAR 12, the International Symposium on Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR), held in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The event drew 184 participants from over 30 countries, with plenary sessions showcasing advances in MAR research and fostering continued collaboration across the global groundwater community.
