IAH’s role as a leading international society for hydrogeology was highlighted at the International Water Resources Association’s ‘World Water Forum’ in Dakar, by reference to: the works of IAH commissions, networks and working groups; the world-wide contribution of our national chapters; our Strategic Overview Series; and ‘Hydrogeology Journal’. The Forum concluded with the Dakar Declaration calling upon the international community to: guarantee the right to water and sanitation for all; ensure availability of the resources and resilience; ensure adequate funding; ensure inclusive water governance; enhance cooperation

Our Karst Commission were at the heart of the ‘International Conference on the Hydrogeology of Karst and Carbonate Reservoirs’ (Eurokarst 2022) in Málaga, Spain. We gave a keynote presentation, supporting the 12th Jeju Water World Forum (WWF) and its theme, ‘Groundwater – More Than Water’. At World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden, IAH members collaborated with the World Bank, IGRAC, GEF IW:Learn, IUCN and FAO, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia. We participated in the Groundwater Forum, organised by the Capital Region of Denmark, ATV Soil & Groundwater and International Water Association’s IWA’s Groundwater Management Specialist Group, and held as part of IWA’s World Water Congress.

We became a member of the European Commission’s Zero Pollution platform to help influence the development of programmes to minimise pollution across the EU. To reinforce our educational capability, we established a new MoU with GroundwaterU, a free online library catalogue of educational videos related to all things groundwater – from science and engineering to law and policy – and for all interests and learning levels.
