IAH Annual Report 2021
Strengthening and supporting
Even given the recent pandemic, IAH’s efforts for its members has continued unceasingly. Whether online or in-person, the Association has worked to ensure that individuals and groups have chance to network globally with others who are engaged in groundwater-related matters and who support IAH’s aims. Members continue to receive our highly regarded Hydrogeology Journal free of charge and can participate in our various groups and events, sharing knowledge and experience, benefiting from a variety of discounts, competitions and other offers.
Current member offers include discounts on IAH books from Taylor and Francis, English book titles from Springer, on the Springer journal Sustainable Water Resources Management, as well as IAH congresses and some other conferences. In 2021, as the picture below shows, we heeded advice from the Smurfs as part of our Belgium congress arrangements.
Member sponsorship, support and offers
IAH members have access to a number of book and journal discounts, our mentoring scheme, competitions and other benefits. We also run a sponsorship scheme for those unable to join the association for financial or practical reasons. This year 262 members were sponsored through central IAH funds, national chapters and donations from members.
Membership numbers
Membership is open to anyone who is directly or indirectly involved in study, research or management of groundwater. It offers the chance to network with hydrogeologists and groundwater-related specialists in 130 countries across the world. Membership in 2021 recovered from the worst impacts caused by Covid, with a total of around 4250 members.
National chapters
IAH’s national chapters bring scientific, professional and social benefits to our members and enable the Association to promote sound and sustainable groundwater use at a country and regional level. We are very grateful to the volunteer committees who run our national chapters. New chapters were established during the year in Georgia, Iran, Lebanon and Namibia.
