Successes for IAH’s Commissions and Networks, included a topical collection of papers published in Hydrogeology Journal and books on Urban Groundwater, ‘MAR: Overview and Governance, Groundwater for Sustainable Livelihoods and Equitable Growth’; and a special issue in the journal ‘Water’ on ‘Regional Groundwater Flow Concept and Its Potential for Interdisciplinary Application’.
A working group was established within the IAH Socio-Hydrogeology Network to enhance Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility within IAH and the wider hydrogeological community.

MIKAS (Most Important Karst Aquifer’s Springs) is the international project of the Karst Commission. It aims to establish the first complete list of the most important karstic springs at a global level and create a Code of Practice. The Mineral and Thermal Waters Commission held a conference on ‘Advances in developing geothermal resources for heating, cooling and electricity production in developing geothermal resources for heating and cooling’ in Ljubljana, Slovenia and called for submissions to a special issue publication on ‘Sustainable Development of Hydrogeology’.
The IAH Commission on Transboundary Aquifers (TBA) now publishes a newsletter on its website at https://tba.iah.org/ for IAH-TBA. TBA represented IAH at the global workshop “Conjunctive Management of Surface Water and Groundwater: National to Transboundary Level”, hosted the UN Economic Commission for Europe.
A new network was proposed, that will look at groundwater classification and is associated with the UNECE WG on groundwater classification; and an invitation for interested members to establish a new group on groundwater for water, energy, food and ecosystems (WEFE). This will be managed closely with the IAH-UN Working Group, once this becomes operational.
