IAH Annual Report 2023

Informing and influencing

Our new strategic plan provides particular support to the SDG6 capacity development accelerators. We aim to raise awareness about groundwater issues and help ensure a better-skilled workforce that improves service levels and increases job creation and retention in the water sector. We aim to enhance capabilities of those working in field of groundwater management throughout the world. We will link with partner organisations, particularly to benefit those working in lower income countries.

We made progress in establishing working groups on UN liaison and on more general education and outreach, and several members expressed interest in contributing to these initiatives. We hope that this will include setting up Hydrogeodia (Hydrogeoday) activities in their own countries. This initiative began in Spain and has now spread to several countries in South America. Africa has also joined in, with the first Hydrogeoday taking place in Botswana.
