We established a new working group on equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) within the IAH Socio-Hydrogeology Network (SHG). Our existing statement on EDIA (https://iah.org/ about/statement-on-equity-diversity-and-inclusion) reflects our aims for fairness, equal treatment, and the elimination of discrimination based on attributes such as age, civil status, class, disability, gender identity, nationality, parental status, race or ethnic origin, religion or belief, and sexual orientation. We seek to use gender-neutral and discrimination-free language to ensure appropriateness and inclusivity.
IAH Commissions, Networks and members contribute, with the aim of ensuring better representation and balance at congresses and throughout our activities. Our conferences provided valuable opportunities to raise awareness about links between gender and water link. Plans for the future include reinforcing IAH’s position on EDIA as part of the strategies for education and outreach, including social media.
