Informing and influencing
UNESCO gave its formal recognition to IAH as an Associate Partner at the beginning of the year, following a vote by members at the annual general conference.
IAH supported several international events during the year, including the United Nation’s Groundwater Summit and the International Water Resources Association’s World Water Forum, with the aim of highlighting the critical importance of groundwater in the wider environment.
The United Nations World Water Day 2022 campaign focused on groundwater, with the enthusiastic support of IAH and its members across the world. In this ‘year for groundwater’ IAH highlighted the need to ensure wise use and protection of groundwater resources. IAH, its groups and members were involved in events and activities to commemorate World Water Day 2022 and to bring groundwater to the attention of people across the world. In our news release, distributed worldwide, we urged people to think about how much water they use and where it really comes from, and to consider what we all can do to protect this vital resource.
